Writing a Summary

In writing a Summary there are many steps to take into consideration to make sure that you are including the appropriate information and documentation for the appropriate sited material. The main piece that brings the summary together is the thesis. In the thesis the main thoughts that you want the reader to read will be included in the thesis. The first important step in writing a summary is to carefully read over the material. It is also a good idea to read the information presented more than once. Information that has assisted in my Summary writing has been the note taking process. The note taking process is called making marginal notes. The next important step is to use attributive tags. The attributive tags make sure that they remind the reader on who the write has quoted or summarized. The best summaries are short summaries. It is important to keep a summary focused on a main idea or point that I want to summarize. In conclusion, as the final step in writing papers, letters, and other written or typed methods of communication always remember to check the punctuation, spelling, and grammar.

Websites - Commercial or Personal?

In the reading "Rhetorical Analysis of Websites," the text indicated that the Internet and web based pages tend to influence those who utilize the sites to either enhance their opinion or form an opinion. The opinions are formulated by enabling research and other types of methods that can be used to give answers to those who are viewing the selected material. The text asked the same questions that I, myself, would want answered when researching the various material on the web or Internet activities. One question that stood out to me was the question "Who created the web page?" You have many consumers that are efficient in creating their own web pages. Knowing that the average consumer can create their own web pages and sell items via internet so easily sometimes causes a fear in regards to network security. I will use the example of the Sea World picture I have included. My family and I chose to visit Orlando, Fl. this year for a family vacation. I am a native of Florida, and I have always wanted to visit Sea World. I have always had friends and family who have worked with Disney or Universal Studios to give me the do's and don'ts pertaining to ticket purchases. Sea World I decided to research myself. My first reaction was to research discounted tickets for Sea World by way of the internet. In researching the various websites, I noticed that there were many personal sites from individuals who were trying to sell tickets they had personally purchased. If I did not research as thoroughly as I did, I would have probably been cheated out of hundreds of dollars trying to purchase Sea World tickets. The websites all had great pictures, advertisements, and prices similar to basic Sea World packages. However, there were a couple of sites that were not secure and were set up by individuals who just wanted to resale Sea World tickets that they allegedly purchased and wanted to get rid of. There was no guarantee that I would receive the tickets upon sending the form of payment they requested. In conclusion, in shopping for items online, I have found it best to look into the original creator of the website, the content of the website, and most importantly the text that is included on the website. Does the website portray true advertisements and photography to sell or effectively communicate what they are trying to offer?
